With the aim of raising awareness of patents—one of the key instruments of global competitiveness—among university students, encouraging students to engage in inventive activities, and ensuring the use of patent documents in academic studies or professional careers, the fourth edition of the Patentle Türkiye – Universities Patent Competition, organized since 2018 by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT), an affiliated institution of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, has started.
University students enrolled in associate, undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs may apply to the competition, which will be held for the 4th time this year by TÜRKPATENT, online via the TÜRKPATENT Electronic Application System – EPATS (epats.turkpatent.gov.tr/) between May 1 and December 15, 2024.
Applications submitted to TÜRKPATENT will be evaluated by a jury, and those ranking will be awarded prizes. Accordingly, prizes will be granted as follows: TRY 100,000 for first place, TRY 80,000 for second place, TRY 60,000 for third place, TRY 50,000 for fourth to sixth place, TRY 40,000 for seventh to tenth place, and TRY 30,000 for eleventh to twentieth place, amounting to a total of TRY 850,000. In addition, participation awards for national and international invention fairs will also be granted.
Within the scope of the competition applications, the application, search report, and examination report fees for patent applications will also be covered by TÜRKPATENT.
