Following the successful completion of the examination and publication processes before the European Commission, Osmaniye Groundnut and Bingöl Honey have been registered in the European Union.
Prof. Dr. M. Zeki Durak, President of the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT), announced that Osmaniye Groundnut and Bingöl Honey have been registered by the European Union.
Durak stated: “We continue to introduce our geographical indications, which bear lasting traces of our cultural heritage, to the world. ‘Osmaniye Groundnut,’ one of the delicacies of our rich agricultural heritage, and ‘Bingöl Honey,’ the unique taste of our fertile lands for which we applied to the European Commission within the scope of the International Geographical Indication Mobilization as TÜRKPATENT, have been registered by the European Union.”
Noting that the registration of Osmaniye Groundnut and Bingöl Honey brings the total number of geographical indications registered with the European Union to 23, Durak added that procedures are ongoing for a total of 53 geographical indication applications, 6 of which are at the publication stage.
