Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır announced that the examination processes of “Araban Garlic” before the European Union (EU) have been completed and that it has been registered.
In a post shared on his social media account regarding the matter, Minister Kacır stated that Turkey continues to protect, register, and promote its local values worldwide, saying: “Araban garlic, grown in the lands of Gaziantep and known for its healing qualities, has become our 21st geographical indication registered in the European Union.”
Emphasizing that a significant increase has been recorded in the number of registrations before the EU through the International Geographical Indication Mobilization that has been launched, Kacır said: “As of today, we have 21 registered geographical indications, while the procedures for 49 applications—4 of which are at the publication stage—are ongoing. We will continue our efforts to protect and promote our culture and values and to increase our country’s brand value.”
